Swanndri & Mt White Station - Our Kind Of Place To Be

May 02, 2024 By Swanndri Team

We love an adventure. Getting out there and getting active in the outdoors is kinda our thing.

But sometimes, it's good to just 'be'.

Of course, you can just 'be' anywhere. In the office, staring at your screen. At the café, watching people come and go. At the park, watching your dog disappear into the distance. On the loo, solving the world's problems.

Truth is though, you can't beat the epic outdoors for a place to just 'be'. And if you do get the opportunity to just be in one of the most epic and beautiful and tranquil farms slash unspoilt wilderness areas in the country... well, why would you want to be anywhere else?

Recently, we did a shoot at just such a place for our Swanndri Winter 2024 range (out now, btw).

Swanndri & Mt White Station - Our Kind Of Place To Be

Mt White Station is a 40,000 hectare functioning farm set amidst the rugged peaks, remote valleys and braided rivers of the Southern Alps. Established 1857, it remains a farm at heart but is now also a place people can escape to, explore and experience life on an authentic high country station.

As well as the original farming part of the business, there are now also blossoming tourism and beekeeping branches. This includes accommodation, events and high-country exploring, as well as honey production, farming and beekeeping experiences and tastings.

It's a place you can be inspired by the raw beauty and unhurried pace of high country life. A place you can be comfy and cosy in the on-farm accommodation. A place you can be connected to the rich history and natural landscape. A place you can be curious and experience the wonder of beekeeping. And of course a place you can be active and explore on foot or by bike.

This was all a big part of why we selected Mt White as the spot for our recent Swanndri shoot. But it was also a sense of shared values that we got from the whole team there.

Because they're all about embracing modernity and moving forward - without ever losing touch with their roots, the foundations of who they are. They're helping protect and restore the natural landscapes we love - and they're helping people from all walks of life access and experience them in their own way.

That and the fact that they still get around on horseback. That's the real deal.
